Between January-March 2023, Birth Companions undertook a project on behalf of the Maternity Consortium to understand women’s lived experiences of children’s social care involvement during pregnancy and the first two years of their child’s life and the impact this had on their mental and physical health and wellbeing.

The report shares the findings from the project and aims to amplify the voices of women who experience significant health inequalities linked to complex social factors and high levels of trauma, stigma and discrimination; and to enable some of those women to shape national and local policymaking and delivery.
